How to use Tamarind Concentrate in Cooking

2.3K

Tamarind is used in many recipes, and Tamicon is the only brand I have tried. Since this is a tamarind concentrate, it should always be dissolved in warm water/coconut milk before adding to curries. Adding extra tamarind would increase sourness in your curries, and adding too little would give no flavor at all.

Substitutes for tamarind in curries include Goraka (Indian Tamarind), Lemon  juice or Tomatoes.

Recipe ideas with tamarind include fried eggplant, and shrimp curries.

What addition do you make to add sourness to your curries? Do you have favorite tamarind brands? Let me know in the comments below
